German Wine Label Terms:

Auslese- special selections of ripe grape bunches.

Beerenauslese- wine pressed from individually selected ripe grapes.

Fass or Fuder- the cask from which an exceptional wine is produced usually indicating a cask number on the bottle.

Kabinett- the best wine of a particular vineyard.

Natur- an unsugared, natural wine.

Original Abfullung- bottled by the grower as in the French term, chateau-bottled.

Spatlese- wine from a late, ripe picking.

Trockenbeerenauslese- wine pressed from grapes so ripe they are almost raisins.

Wachstum- the grape of a single vineyard often followed by the vineyard or owner's name.
