Bordeaux Wine Region: Entre-Deux-Mers, Graves, Margaux, Medoc, Pauillac, Right Bank.

Margaux

Boundaries: East is the Gironde River.

Climate: Cold springs and rain in the fall.

Soil: Light, gravelly soil.

Producers or Top Wines: Ch. d'Angludet, d'Arsac, Bel-Air-Marquis, d'Algre, Brane-Cantenac, Ch. Cantenac-Brown, Dauzac, Desmirail, Dufort-Viviens, Ferriere, Giscors, la Gurgue, d'Issan, Kinwan, Labegorce, Labegorce-Zede, Lascombes, Margaux, Marquis d'Alesme Becker, Marquis de Terme, Monbrisone, Palmer, Paveil de Luze, Prieure, Lichine, Rauzan-Segla, Siran, la Tours de Mons.

Grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon.

Margaux is the only appellation in Bordeaux to take its name from the finest estate. The Chateau Margaux produces some of the finest reds in Bordeaux and is the only estate in the region to have a premier grand cru status. Four other villages produce reds in the Margaux appellation and those are Arsac, Cantenac, Labarde and Soussans.

Chateau Margaux and other estates acquire grapes from several communes but has been utilizing winemaking techniques to increase the quality. Chateau Palmer and Chateau Rauzan-Segla have also seen a rise in quality in reference to the winemaking procedures.
