Aconcagua Valley Chilean Wine Region

Boundaries: Northernmost region.

Climate: Hot and generally arid; similar to the Mediterranean climate.

Soil: Limestone and alluvial soil.

Grapes: (r) Cabernet Sauvignon, (w) Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc.

Aconcagua's Mediterranean climate has long growing seasons, warm days, cool evenings and is well-suited for red wines. The Errázuriz family started vineyards in the Aconcagua Valley in the late 1800s and is the most well-known producer in the area.
