White Grape Varieties:

Dallas Bartenders

Riesling is one of Germany's beloved wines from the Mosel and Rhine areas that are usually light to medium bodied, floral very fruity and implicit, if not expressed, sweetness. Rieslings are not always sweet as dry Rieslings are made in Alsace, California, New York, Australia and also in Germany.

The sweet Rieslings can be very good with fresh, balanced acidity even with high sugar content. Although a noble grape variety, it can be difficult to grow as long, cool growing seasons are needed for the grapes to come to perfect ripeness depending on spring and fall frosts.

Classic growing areas: Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, Rheingau, Rheinhessen and Pfalz in Germany; Alsace in France; Northeastern Italy (labeled as "Rhine Riesling" or "Riesling Renano")

New growing areas: New York, California and Washington State in the U.S. (labeled as "Johannisberg Riesling" or "White Riesling"); South Australia in Australia (labeled as "Rhine Riesling").
